Mt. View EyeCare Center, Associate OD - Vancouver, WA

Mt. View EyeCare Center is seeking a new associate optometrist to work 4-5 days per week in patient care. Interest in pediatrics, myopia control, and binocular vision are preferred, but not necessarily required, depending on the applicant. Knowledge or willingness to learn to fit ortho-keratology is necessary for continuity of care.

Practice History: Mt. View EyeCare was started in 1989 by Dr. Christen Jankowski after leaving active duty military practice. In 2016, Dr. Nick Jankowski finished optometry school and began practicing so Dr. J could retire. By 2018, Dr. Soper, Dr. Nick’s wife, had made the move from the other practice she worked at over to Mt. View EyeCare full time. In 2022, Dr. Nick and Dr. Soper made the decision to move the practice to a larger facility and expand to the six exam room clinic we now have today.

Patient Load: Estimated average of 18-22 patients per day with technician and optician support. Technicians perform visual fields, OCT, topography, pre-testing work up, and basic charting. Emergency work-ins are somewhat frequent.

Patient Demographics: Our practice is probably about a 50-50 split between medical eye care and routine eye care. We are a heavy contact lens practice, including the fittings of scleral lenses, hybrid lenses, RGPs, and of course soft lenses. Due to Dr. Nick’s scleral lens practice, we also see a wide variety of cornea conditions.

New graduate optometrists should view the first year of this job as similar to a residency where they will have their own patients, but we anticipate that you’ll have questions and need second opinions frequently in your first 3-6 months or longer. We remember what it was like being fresh out of school and the feeling of not having much of a safety net, so our goal is to foster a good learning environment early in your career. We strongly believe you will learn more in your first year of practice than you did in your fourth year.

Applicant Requirements:
  1. Must be able to work in the US
  2. Must hold an OD degree
  3. Be able to obtain a license in Washington State
  4. Be willing to provide some volunteer time within the state association and local chapters
Compensation Package:
  1. Competitive Daily Rate (negotiable) possibly with a percentage of production (negotiable)
  2. Medical Insurance Coverage
  3. Continuing Education Stipend
  4. Malpractice Coverage
  5. License Reimbursement/Paid
  6. PTO
  7. Retirement (SIMPLE IRA)
  8. AOA/OPW Dues Paid
