We are seeking a friendly, motivated Associate Optometrist to join our growing team. We have added vision therapy to our practice over the last couple of years and are excited to continue growing this part of our business, so experience in pediatric care and vision therapy is a plus.
This part-time position (three days per week) offers an excellent opportunity to build your patient base and potentially grow into a full-time role. Battle Ground is a rapidly growing bedroom community of Vancouver, WA, and has more than doubled its population over the last 10 years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Performs general eye examinations and office visits as needed.
  2. Develops positive optometrist-patient relationships.
  3. Evaluates patients for LASIK or other refractive surgery and makes recommendations as to treatment options to the Ophthalmologist.
  4. Works together with the Ophthalmologist to achieve the best possible outcome for all patients.
  5. Demonstrates mastery of pre- and post-operative care for patients.
  6. Executes consistent and specific medical protocol.
  7. Trains patients or caregivers in techniques for managing at-home care.
  8. Provides leadership, management and accountability for timely patient appointments.
  9. Represents the organization within the public, medical and business community.
  10. Records and maintains clinical and business data in written and/or electronic form.
  11. Participation in co-management and related special projects.
  12. Ability to travel to other locations for coverage in Washington as needed.
  13. Some Saturday coverage is required.

Education/Experience:
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited School of Optometry.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Provide comprehensive eye care including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referrals, consultations, patient or community education and co-management as applicable.
  • Accurate and timely medical recordkeeping.
  • Conduct field Eye Clinics to SEARHC locations.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and competency of the local Eye Clinic staff.
  • May sponsor Dispensing Optician Apprentices.
  • May precept and mentor optometry students.
  • Support departmental compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, accreditation programs and SEARHC policies and procedures.
  • Travel required - Field travel may require travel by jet, small aircraft, or ferry.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Full-Time: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) with a current unrestricted Alaska Optometry license.
  • Intermittent: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) with a current unrestricted U.S. Optometry license, with Alaska Optometry license preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of start date.
